Later on, when you find out about that stuff, you can’t believe your own eyes. And who’s the first person you blame? Not them. You blame yourself. “Why did I trust this person? How could I not see it?” But let me tell you this: it’s not your fault. They know how to weaponize technology against you. It’s very easy for them to keep multiple phones to do this stuff. And there is a pattern. They know how to appear online and leave what is called a digital footprint on the accounts they share with you to make you think they’re working. “Yes, they’re using those accounts. They’re receiving emails—official emails, emails from their family—on those accounts, so they’re safe. They’re okay. What is there to think about?”

They will give you what I call a “shut-up ring.” When a narcissist knows you have started to see through them, they throw this at your face. When they put it on your finger, it’s not a ring—it’s a handcuff. It’s a chain. And they know this will give you enough satisfaction not to doubt their intentions anymore. Because marriage is the last thing you want from them. And you know a lot of narcissists run from marriages. They don’t want to be committed, so they don’t show any commitment. But these malignant narcissists, who have learned from their experiences, know how to trap you using this.
