Some narcissistic men want to become the women they hate the most. In what way? In the way she acts, interacts with people, talks, walks, operates in the world, and even raises her children. But why do they do this? They are deeply envious and jealous. Out of that jealousy, they attempt a form of personality theft. They aim to steal her positive traits and embody them, to the extent of altering their personality.
Examples of Narcissistic Personality Theft
I have witnessed numerous examples of this behavior. For instance, people have reported cases where their husband or another man in their life started dressing like them, wearing their favorite perfumes, applying for the same jobs, or even parenting their children in the same manner. One woman noted, “He started talking to my children just like I do, showing them he has the same skills as me.”
That’s why I call it personality theft.
Distinguishing Personality Theft from Gender Confusion
Is this about gender confusion? Not necessarily. That’s an entirely different subject. Here, we’re talking about a narcissist’s lack of a genuine personality. Narcissists are experts at mirroring—they copy traits and behaviors they admire to create a façade of connection. But this goes beyond simple mirroring; it’s about stealing the essence of another person out of jealousy and hatred to have a similar impact on others.
