5 Stupid Habits Narcissists Believe Make Them Look Smart

In their mind, they’re giving a performance: “Oh, they must be so pleased with me. They must think I’m such a knowledgeable person. Look at these fools; I’ve got them thinking I have a big brain. They’re all waiting for more knowledge from me.” That’s their perception, their fantasy, their delusional reality. But you and I know what’s really happening. People are annoyed, and they see these constant interruptions as markers of stupidity. Who does that? You have no patience, you can’t listen, you always need to bring the focus back to yourself—how immature.

Another thing they do is continuously correct your mistakes. Because when you’re having a conversation with a loved one who is opening up to you, focusing on their words, vocabulary, or pronunciation is incredibly superficial and invalidating. Nothing can be more dismissive than telling your partner, “I’m just so upset right now because you used the wrong word.” It’s the best way to anger them and show that their emotions don’t matter.
