The third move is stealing your money and resources. If you own joint assets or have joint accounts, they’ll take out all the money as the authorized signatory or sell off your cars and houses just to leave you broke. It’s a punishment, so you have nothing to rely on, financially speaking, and nowhere to go—not even a car to drive. That’s how callous they are.
I’ve seen this happen. Imagine leaving with hope in your heart, thinking, “At least I have some money in a joint account,” or “I have a car or house,” only to find out it’s all gone. It was all set on fire as a punishment. This leads to post-abuse traumatization.
How can you prevent this? You need to devise a plan. Slowly, if possible, start withdrawing money from your joint accounts and dissolve that partnership. Make up an excuse—tell them anything except the truth—and sell off those assets before you leave.
