Before I explain why a narcissist may start hating God, it’s important to establish a foundation by explaining why they do not have a true personality. They do not worship the God that you worship. They worship their own ego. They worship their false image because they do not have a true self. When you do not have a true self, you essentially do not have a core. Without a core, you’re like the wind, like a cloud—you can become anything and anyone. You do not have any values, a working moral compass, or a living conscience.
As you and I both know, if you are religious and spiritual, these things are essential. You must have a working conscience to differentiate between right and wrong. If you only pursue what serves your ego, if you chase after what is alluring to you, then there is no morality. There is no inner voice telling you, “No, that is not what God wants; you shouldn’t do that.” Narcissists only pretend to follow God to make others think they are godly. But in reality, they are ungodly when no one is watching.
