6 Delusions ALL Narcissists Believe

Another common delusion is their belief that you should be able to read their minds at all times. If you fail to do so, especially in situations they deem important, it can trigger extreme rage. Narcissists genuinely believe you should know what they’re thinking and act accordingly. I personally experienced hours of violent narcissistic rages because I couldn’t read my father’s mind. If you’re not careful, you might adopt the same delusional belief, holding yourself accountable for something no human being could possibly do.

Narcissists also believe they have the right to abuse you whenever they see fit, without facing any consequences. They view their right to abuse you as justified, simply because you are their partner, spouse, or child. This delusion can become ingrained in your own beliefs if you are not careful. I spent much of my life believing that because my father financially supported me, he had the right to abuse me whenever he wanted. But I’m here to tell you that no one has the right to abuse you under any circumstances.

Next, narcissists believe they deserve to be worshipped. They expect everyone’s life to revolve around them, their needs, and their desires. When they walk through the door, they want complete focus on serving them and making sure they are happy and comfortable. Narcissists don’t see others as independent people with their own needs; instead, they view them as tools to fulfill their desires. My father used to say, “When I say jump, you say, ‘How high?’” I thought this was normal, but it’s not. Families should not function like places of worship or dictatorships.
