This is one of the craziest things a narcissist might do if they have power over you. They’ll remove your room door, claiming you don’t need privacy. It’s worse than not being allowed to lock your room—they won’t let you have a door at all! I’ve seen this happen to many people, and it didn’t happen to me, but it’s something others still struggle with today. Living without privacy makes them feel unsafe even in their own homes.
Number five: Parentifying you.
A narcissist will make you act like their parent. You’ll have to unconditionally give without receiving anything in return. You’ll be forced to validate them constantly, take care of them emotionally, and handle responsibilities that aren’t yours. This dynamic is common with narcissistic parents, who will guilt-trip you into taking on their role. I was parentified by my narcissistic mother for decades. I had to grow up quickly because I had no choice. I never had a mother—I had a child living in an adult body.
