That sounds shocking, but it’s true. These occasions turn these restless souls into patient beings. Yes, it may be temporary, but during these moments, they absorb information. They don’t interrupt, and they let you speak.

First, when they intend to extract information from you. In the early stages of a relationship with a narcissist, they show fake patience. They’ll ask you open-ended questions about your childhood, your weaknesses, your past relationships, your work, and your finances. They want to learn what can be weaponized against you. They study each chapter of your life.
While you share, they’ll maintain intense eye contact, making you feel seen and understood. It feels like they’re giving you a hug through their eyes. But in reality, it’s a predator learning how to hunt you down. They’ll let you express your emotions, not intervene, and won’t get bored—all just to gain power over you. The rush for them comes from getting you to open up.
