Some narcissists, especially communal narcissists, use this tactic. They do things for you without being asked, give you gifts, buy you expensive stuff, and take you places, all under the guise of valuing you. They build you up to feel guilty so that when they make a big request later, you won’t be able to say no. This manipulation is one of the most disgusting ways to trap somebody because it’s not direct. They’re not telling you you’re crazy; they’re being nice, but they’re weaving their web around you, making you feel helpless later.
