A narcissistic parent might act as though nothing has happened. They’ll pray for you (if they’re religious) and weaponize guilt by saying things like, “We’re always waiting for you. When will you come?” They might show up at your house unannounced, play the victim, and make dramatic statements like, “What have I done to deserve this?” In their eyes, they’re always the good parent, and your discomfort is irrelevant – because causing discomfort is the point.

4. Dramatic Confrontations and Emotional Traps

A narcissistic parent may try to infiltrate your inner circle, using people close to you, like friends or colleagues, to manipulate you. They’ll corner you in conversations and stage dramatic confrontations, bringing out a mental list of all their supposed sacrifices. They might go as far as making you feel guilty for standing your ground, saying things like, “How dare you speak to me this way?”
