Sign 4: The Devaluation Phase
That is why when the narcissist has finally secured the new supply, they can relax. When they are no longer on that high, they start seeing the flaws. They start nitpicking at the tiniest details that are not in line with what they thought, and basically, the devaluation begins. The narcissist who was once so in love, charming, and captivating is now a narcissist who is bored, unhappy, dissatisfied, and annoyed. Narcissists go through phases, and the love bombing is such a phase. It never lasts, and it never ends well, as the narcissist needs to feel that high that comes from attracting and securing a new supply.
And that is why once the narcissist gets what they want, it benefits no one because they get bored, and people get hurt. Although a narcissist in love means a bit of respite for their victims, it doesn’t take long before they are back to carry on where they left off as usual.
