Another sign is that they have a “know it all” attitude in conversations. You may want to share something uniquely yours with them, but they end up giving you unsolicited advice, correcting you, criticizing you, shaming you, or comparing you to others to make themselves feel better. They have to be the one who knows how to do things correctly. For example, if you share a recipe you cooked, instead of appreciating it, they may say, “Let me teach you how to cook it better. Let me cook it for you.” They need to feel superior in every situation.
Lack of Focus
Finally, they lack focus when the conversation isn’t about them. This may also be seen in people with ADHD, but with narcissists, it’s about getting bored. They need your attention, and when they’re not the center of it, they get restless. They may yawn, start scrolling their phone, look over your shoulder, or start scratching their body. They make you feel like you’re not making any sense, and you must stop immediately.
These are clear signs that you may be dealing with a narcissist, someone who does not respect your emotions, individuality, uniqueness, or personality unless it’s about them.
