Vulnerable or covert narcissists are the ones who thrive on their victim status. They’re not openly arrogant or prideful but present themselves as shy and timid. They don’t seem like narcissists at first glance. They want to be recognized as victims in every situation, constantly seeking sympathy. If you suggest they take action to change their circumstances, they’ll discard or devalue you for daring to question them.
Their victim status gives them supply, as people cater to their needs and reinforce their ego. They are wolves in sheep’s clothing, manipulating others while enjoying the attention and pity they receive.
