In the relationship, when they looked good, they were punished. The narcissist accused them of trying to impress someone else, making them feel ashamed of wearing lipstick or using beauty products.
Now that they’ve broken free, they may subconsciously avoid attention, associating looking good with danger.
This is why so many survivors struggle with dressing up again—in their minds, looking good equals risk.
4. Dark and Smudgy Eyeliner: Reflecting Inner Turmoil
Many survivors unintentionally wear dark, smudgy eyeliner.
This isn’t just a makeup choice—it’s a reflection of their emotional state.
Grief, exhaustion, and trauma manifest physically. Heavy, messy eyeliner mirrors the emotional weight survivors carry. It’s as if their pain is leaking into their makeup choices without them even realizing it.
Tired souls, heavy hearts—and their eyes show it.
5. Foundation Overload: Masking Past Pain
