3. Rage
A narcissistic collapse also causes narcissists to feel overwhelming rage. Earlier, I asked how you would react to an unfamiliar emotion you couldn’t explain. When it comes to narcissists, rage is often a default reaction. The feeling of not being able to pinpoint what they are feeling is frustrating for them and even for ordinary people, but what differentiates us from narcissists is that we can compose ourselves alone, and narcissists can’t do that. The only way they can let their rage go is to lash out, make a mess in the room, or act out all of a sudden. They may shout out of nowhere just to get that rage out of their system. And the most unfortunate thing is that they might turn into bullies or psychopaths if they can’t find stability again, or, worse, they will find stability by hurting other people physically.
4. Impulsive reactions
During a narcissistic collapse, narcissists are still left feeling as if they have lost their confidence and hard-earned facade or pretense. What will be your instant reaction if something threatens to take away something you’ve worked hard for? Isn’t it for protection?Narcissists are also like that; the symptoms of narcissistic collapse are essentially when their narcissistic traits become overly pronounced. Narcissists are known to be impulsive even at the beginning; they prioritize short-term gains and quick decisions to protect their self-image and still appear confident and appealing to others, but the rage they feel when their world crumbles will fuel their impulsiveness as they desperately try to reclaim their fantasy of controlling their emotions and others. As a result, their instincts will instantly kick in, leading them to make clumsy decisions that often cause a plot hole in their made-up stories. Either way, narcissists will still be knocked over when they experience a narcissistic collapse, no matter how hard they try to get it together.
