“When you say no, they insult to provoke you into talking to them, stalk you on all social media and any other devices they can get a hold of. I just keep living my best life because they were never part of my life in the first place.”
Now, let’s discuss control. Control can manifest in many forms and is not exclusive to female narcissists, but it often appears differently in them. A female narcissist might try to control your career or finances, pushing you into a higher-paying job that makes you miserable. If you feel like she’s trying to control your life choices and you don’t have a say, that’s a red flag.
Lastly, let’s dive into jealousy. The female covert narcissist can be incredibly jealous, but she might also try to make you jealous as a test of loyalty. If you’re not jealous, she may suggest that you don’t care. She might flirt with others in front of you or brag about people hitting on her to provoke jealousy, only to dismiss your concerns as jealousy when you question her behavior.
The gradual erosion of self-worth is a common outcome of relationships with narcissists. Their behaviors are designed to undermine your self-esteem. If you were raised by a narcissistic mother or have had relationships with female narcissists, you might mistakenly believe this is just how women are, which could keep you stuck in an abusive relationship. A trauma bond, similar to Stockholm syndrome, may also contribute to this.
