So at the start of the relationship, if you are not in the narcissist’s presence physically, they will be texting and keeping almost constant communication with you online. These texts quickly become intense proclamations of their undying love for you, like “no one understands me like you do” or “I don’t know what I would do without you.” “You’re my soulmate,” “You’re all I ever think about,” “You make me feel whole and complete,” “You’re saving me,” “You’re my hero.”
And of course, they’re saying anything and everything that will make themselves look perfect to you. And if you get sucked into this, you may find yourself saying these exact same things back to them, actually feeling like you found the love of your life. But the truth is, narcissists have a pattern of telling partners these exact same words when they’re with you. Sure, they may believe themselves, but if you went and talked to their exes, I can almost guarantee that these proclamations of love are not unique at all. You will soon learn that these words are hollow and that all of the narcissist’s promises will be broken.
2. Lots of Sexting
A narcissist will start sexting you almost immediately, and this is a red flag when sexting starts before genuine trust and respect have been established. Now, I’m not saying there’s anything wrong with sexting, but just know that a narcissist is doing this for one of three reasons, or maybe all three. One is they’re using you for sex. Two, they are trying to get you addicted to them through sex. And three, they may be gathering dirt on you for later. So if you send sexual photos or share intimate sexual details with them, they may use this against you in the future to devalue, degrade, manipulate, blackmail, and control you.
