4. You’ll never find anyone like me
This manipulative statement is often used by narcissists in relationships nearing their end. They emphasize their supposed contributions to your life while conveniently forgetting the harm they’ve caused. The best response to this statement? Silence—and go no contact.
5. Leave me like everybody does
This comparison to “everybody else” is a red flag. Narcissists often play the victim, using abandonment as a defense mechanism. Though it may sound like they’re encouraging you to leave, this is actually a plea for tolerance. It’s their way of saying they won’t change for the better, so you must take it or leave it.
6. I’m sorry. Are you happy now?
If you’ve ever heard a narcissist apologize, it may have sounded like this. While it includes the word “sorry,” it lacks sincerity. Narcissists may apologize only when caught red-handed or when they want to end a conversation quickly. Adding a sarcastic “Are you happy now?” makes it clear they’re not taking responsibility for their actions.
