In the mind of a narcissist, they are always the center of the universe. Your role in their life is to meet their needs, while they see no reason to meet yours. The narcissist doesn’t understand your feelings and doesn’t care to. For them, your emotions are irrelevant or, at best, a nuisance. They believe you should feel and want the same things as they do. Any attempt to assert your own opinions or needs is dismissed because, to the narcissist, they are always right.
As long as you go along with their desires and fulfill their expectations, things might seem to work—on the surface. But eventually, the illusion begins to crumble. You can’t go on indefinitely denying your own needs and living as an extension of the narcissist. At some point, you will rebel. When that happens, the narcissist’s attitude towards you will shift. They will begin to see flaws in you, devalue you, and prepare for your replacement with a new source of supply.
