This is something the narcissist never expected you to do, and it will make them regret it for the rest of their lives. Surprisingly, there are several actions narcissists never anticipate you taking.
You found yourself in a relationship with a toxic narcissist without fully understanding what narcissism was. At first, you may have attributed the issues in the relationship to bad days or believed they were dealing with personal struggles. Perhaps you thought they were playing the victim or simply mistreating you out of their own pain. Despite the confusion and emotional toll, you continued to invest in the relationship.
Over time, you gave away your time, money, energy, love, empathy, and even your health. You extended your support endlessly, believing things could improve, only to find yourself depleted. Meanwhile, the narcissist continued taking—your efforts were sabotaged, and their behavior made your life increasingly difficult. Unbeknownst to you, they had another plan all along, one that didn’t include your well-being.
The Narcissistic Cycle
The cycle of narcissistic abuse involves one person giving excessively while the narcissist takes without limits. Narcissists have a distinct and damaging way of thinking. They approach situations with manipulation and exploitation, lacking the ability to reflect or take accountability. Instead of personal growth, they focus on exploiting others, draining their resources, and discarding them when no longer useful.
