Some narcissists behave in obvious and flamboyant ways, while others are more covert, keeping their true nature hidden from the public eye. These covert narcissists secretly wish to see you suffer. While they may not harm you physically, they take pleasure in witnessing your pain.
This behavior can manifest in several ways, from subtly spreading false stories about you to overtly attempting to undermine your achievements. Narcissists often fixate on others due to their own feelings of envy and inadequacy. They may view you as a threat to their ego and actively seek to demean you.
Gaslighting and Flying Monkeys
Gaslighting, a form of psychological manipulation, involves deceit and distortion to make you question your perception of reality. Covert narcissists often employ “flying monkeys,” a network of enablers who unwittingly or willingly carry out their dirty work. These individuals spread misinformation or engage in emotional or physical harm on behalf of the narcissist.
