One of the hardest things a mother goes through after experiencing narcissistic abuse is the crushing guilt she feels for having a child with a narcissistic man. She blames herself for not knowing better and for putting the child through tremendous, unbearable pain—both in the womb and in the physical world. But should she blame herself? Should you take responsibility for something you didn’t do?
Let me be clear: narcissists are masters of deception and manipulation. They can lie with a straight face and are true demonic shape-shifters who become whatever they need to be to get what they want. They have completely suppressed their conscience, and their moral compass consistently misdirects them because they refuse to choose the right path.
Now, if you’re dealing with someone like this—someone so corrupt—how can you expect them to do the right thing? A narcissistic man targets a woman with one objective: to capture her and keep her as a prisoner for life. When he gets her pregnant, he intentionally baby-traps her, making it nearly impossible for her to even think about leaving. He’ll be patient, compassionate, kind, understanding—everything a husband should be—until she shares the news: “I’m pregnant with our baby.”
On that day, he shows his true colors. He reveals the monster he truly is. Unfortunately, for many women, it’s already too late. Why? Because they become trapped in a complex web of emotions.
First comes the guilt—the guilt of not allowing your child to have a father figure. “How will they live in this world? What will happen to them? I can’t take that away. I have no right.” You’re still caught in the trance, unaware that you’re dealing with a narcissist.
