The next proof that they know God is secretly against them is their terror of death. When bad people die a painful or sudden death, narcissists get nervous. Their faces go pale. They lose sleep out of anxiety, terrified that the same consequences may come for them. They’re so scared of death that when someone dies, normal people go near the body, pay their respects, or at least look from a distance. But a narcissist won’t even go near it. They avoid the dead because they fear death more than anything.
Deep down, they know exactly what they’ve done and what they deserve. Death exposes them. A narcissist can deny your feelings, pain, memories, and trauma, but they cannot deny death. Death is the one thing they cannot manipulate, seduce, or talk their way out of. It reminds them that it is a power they cannot overpower and a judgment they cannot escape. It’s destined.
When they hear about someone dying young, when they see a funeral, or when they hear a story of sudden tragedy, you will see their masks crack, like mine did when I heard about my uncle’s death. Their bravado disappears, and their ego collapses for a moment. They start acting strange, fidgety, and restless because every story of someone else’s death becomes a mirror of their own fate. They don’t fear death because they value life; they fear death because they know their lives have been full of cruelty, exploitation, betrayal, and sin.
A narcissist’s terror of death is not a fear of losing life; it’s the fear of being held accountable for the life they’ve lived. That’s why they never go near death. They don’t want to talk about it or attend funerals. Their body language changes when someone mentions dying. I saw this in my narcissistic psychopathic grandfather, who recently passed away.
Their souls know something that their mouths will never admit: God has been watching them from the beginning. And when that time comes, there will be no manipulation, lies, or excuses left. Their fear of death is not just fear; it’s guilt dressed as fear. It’s conscience dressed as panic. It’s lost proof that even they know God is not on their side.
