Their relationship with God is really complex. It’s not just, “Oh God this and God that.” They are not godly; they use God. You know that. But at the same time, they hate God. It’s like a parent-child relationship, projecting those dynamics onto their relationship with God. They could never have that relationship with their parent, for obvious reasons—perhaps that parent was also a narcissist. In my father’s case, his father was a psychopath, so it’s understandable that the same emotions get projected onto God.
The point is, do not believe anything godly that comes out of a narcissist’s mouth. They do not know anything about spirituality, religion, or anything of that sort. They only know the superficial layer of it. They do not and cannot understand the depth that any religion has to offer.
