If you want to know the truth from a narcissist, believe the opposite of what they say, for everything that comes out of their mouth is nothing but a lie. If they say it’s East, believe it’s West. They would never want to direct you the right way; they want to cause you harm and are full of projections. That’s why their accusations are confessions. If you want to stay a step ahead, always try to be dispassionately curious and objective to see through their facade and see reality through the illusion they cast to beguile you. They have a way with words and know how to twist them to change your perceptions, which is why in today’s episode I will be revealing the secret meaning behind five code phrases they use to gaslight.
“If you treat me the same way as I treat you, what will remain the difference between you and me?” This is one of the last tactics used by a narcissist when they’re on the cusp of being exposed. When they know it’s all falling apart, they play this last card to weaponize your emotions and guilt against you so that you do the “right” thing—treat them fairly. If you treat them the way they treat you, then you will also become a narcissist. This is your biggest fear; you do not want to be a narcissist. Naturally, if a narcissist says this, they want you to stop holding them accountable and pushing them to take responsibility for their actions. If you counter-question them, asking if they know they have done something wrong, they might respond, “No, it’s just that you see me a certain way. You think I am bad. If you act the way you think I am acting, then what will remain the difference between you and me? It’s as per your logic.” They will use your thinking, thoughts, and beliefs against you to make you act in ways that will only benefit them.
