Number two, they frequently cancel plans, disappear for days, and you often don’t hear from them. This happens when a person is cheating on you. They might be with someone else, doing things they should only be doing with you. A narcissist is predatory and parasitic, only caring about what serves them in the moment. When something no longer serves them, they forget about it, including you. They don’t consider how you might feel if you find out about their actions. It’s only after days that they call you or reappear, sometimes with a repeated pattern of excuses, like getting into an accident or facing some other dramatic event, to manipulate you and avoid accountability while enjoying the best of both worlds.
Their Grooming Behavior May Change
Number five, their grooming behavior may change. They might start grooming more than usual, becoming obsessed with their appearance and acting younger than their real age. While there’s nothing wrong with grooming, when a narcissist does this in this context, they become excessively focused on how they look, how much they weigh, and how they are perceived. They might develop almost body dysmorphic behavior, obsessing over their appearance to attract someone new. They may delusionally believe they are younger than their real age, acting as if they’re in their twenties when they’re clearly much older. They refuse to accept the natural aging process because it would mean accepting that they are getting older and losing their charm.
