1. Being Told No
That said, here are seven things that narcissists absolutely hate being told no to. Narcissists feel that their wants and feelings are more important than other people’s, and they hate being told no, regardless of what it is they want you to do. Let’s say you’re dating a man who likes when women wear dresses every day, and you say no to that. Or you’re dating a woman who enjoys yoga and wants you to join her, but you say no thanks. When a narcissist hears no, they respond with anger and will pull out all the stops to get you to do what they want. Bill Eddie from the National Conflict Resolution Center in San Diego found that when you tell a narcissist no and stand your ground, they become combative and verbally abusive. But you have the right to say no if you don’t want to do something, no matter how much they hate to hear it.
