Your presence reminds their spirit of everything they have denied or twisted, bringing discomfort because light itself is intolerable to what hides in the dark. On a deeper level, narcissists know you can act as an elevator—someone whose energy has the power to uplift and heal. This is exactly why they resist it. Because they can’t sit with that discomfort, they may attack, dismiss, or distance themselves to avoid facing it.
