Number six, if the threats and intimidation are ineffective, the narcissist will start to realize they are losing control over you. Now things get very serious for them. When a narcissist can no longer control you, they will try to control how others see you. At this stage, the smear campaign will be turned up full blast. They will try to destroy your reputation and your support system by telling all kinds of lies and gross exaggerations to anyone who will listen. The goal is to get everyone to believe you are completely nuts, essentially swapping identities with you, portraying themselves as the victim of your abuse, mental instability, and deceit. They want to leave you isolated and unsupported.
Next comes the financial exploitation and devastation. They will try to cripple you financially by emptying bank accounts, cutting off credit card access, stealing money and assets, and refusing to provide financial support for you or your children. They have accepted that the relationship is over, and all they are concerned with now is getting as much as possible for themselves and destroying your life, including your financial stability.
Number eight, around this time, you can expect to be stalked, hacked, terrorized, and harassed. They will try to get you fired, follow you to terrorize and scare you, and threaten anyone associated with you, including your children. The goal is to turn up the mental abuse and intimidation by doing things you can’t catch them doing or prove. They are skilled at flying under the radar of the police and provoking behaviors in you that align with their smear campaign, making you appear crazy to others.
