Weird Ways a Narcissist Treats Their Children

This makes you feel like crap. You wonder, “What the hell is wrong with me? Am I a burden? Am I worthless? Am I not deserving of love? What have I done wrong?” That’s what you think as a child. You don’t blame the parent; you blame yourself for not being able to receive their love. You must have done something wrong. This is also because of your guilty conscience, a gift from your narcissistic parent. They do it for pomp and show, for gratification, admiration, and validation. “Oh, such a nice mother, such a nice father. Look at them treating so-and-so’s kid so well. Imagine how great of a parent they must be.” They do it for other people’s kids but not for you. This, in my opinion, is one of the biggest and harshest forms of betrayal because you were the rightful recipient of that love but did not receive it. They knew they had to treat you nicely and had the capability to do so, but they were selfish and egocentric. It was not because of you; it was their own ego that came in the way.
