A noble narcissist will exhaust you through feigned casualties. Unlike a covert narcissist who seeks attention by pretending to have a medical emergency, a noble narcissist will pretend to be emotionally drained by their altruistic actions. For instance, if you set up a date with them and they cancel, they will claim that someone they care about is in trouble—a friend had a stroke, or a relative had an accident. They may even send you a crying photo to emotionally manipulate you into showing sympathy.
This tactic forces you to become selfless and sacrifice your needs. If you react negatively to them canceling plans, you will be made to feel like the bad person, as if you’re uncaring. They will repeat this behavior consistently, never giving you a chance to speak up for yourself.
Sign 5: Triggering Reverse Discard
A noble narcissist will make you leave them. They will trigger a reverse discard, which means they will push you to the point where you give up and walk away. They may cheat on you and then lie about it, insisting that you’re imagining things. When you reach your breaking point and decide to quit, they will feign confusion, apologizing without remorse.
They want you to believe that you are the one who destroyed the relationship, and they will villainize you to their next source of supply. This allows them to maintain control and preserve their victim status.
