Sign 2: Obsession and Possession
A narcissist obsessed with their new interest eats, sleeps, and breathes that person and is willing to do anything to keep hold of them. Their new interest is a trophy to the narcissist, one they want to show off and boast about. Their new interest will be their main topic of conversation at every chance they get, as their new interest is the foremost thing constantly on their mind. A narcissist in love creates a picture-perfect romance story being lived out before your eyes. They are masters at wooing and seducing their new interests. Romance is something they can master, as they pick up lines and tactics from movies and books. As a result, they can seem so thoughtful, so considerate, so sweet, and so romantic.
Sign 3: Delusional Perfection
A narcissist in love is the epitome of someone who is blinded by their own delusions of perfection. They do not see their new supply for who they are but who they want them to be. In the narcissist’s mind, they have already constructed their ideal partner and automatically fit their new interest into that role. They are not able or willing to see the differences during their time of infatuation. They just keep pushing through until they secure this person. But when a narcissist is in love, they fool themselves into thinking they have found “the one.” They are truly captivated and entranced by their own making. I have said a few times that narcissists lie to themselves, and they do, especially with their new supply.
