A covert narcissist is called the most dangerous type of narcissist for good reason. The abuse from such a narcissist is difficult to recognize because they always appear to be in victim mode. You don’t think they could be narcissistic since their grandiosity and entitlement are so well hidden—quite the opposite of what you’d expect from a narcissist.
Being with a covert narcissist is like being left in a room filled with odorless, poisonous gas. You feel the suffocation but can’t quite understand what’s happening to you. It’s also like being stabbed with invisible knives—you see yourself bleeding, but don’t know what’s causing the pain. Due to their constant manipulation and gaslighting, you begin to believe you’re the one causing all the harm.
These individuals put on various masks to evoke emotions from people and extract supply. They know exactly how to behave to recruit you as either their enabler or their “bulldog,” making you act for them while they relish in victimhood. One of their biggest tools is the modulation of their voice. They use their voice selectively to elicit a specific response from their target, and that’s what we’re going to discuss in today’s episode.
There are four main types of voices used by narcissists. The first two are primarily used by covert narcissists, while the last two can be used by both covert and overt narcissists.
