Coming to terms with your mistakes and failures is part of the growth process, and I embrace that. If we love each other, it means we love all of each other, putting everything out there. Life is simpler when we’re not conniving and looking for an angle. We each have a combination of pluses and minuses, and as we get to know each other, we see the entire spectrum.
In our relationships, there’s knowing—accumulating certain facts and impressions about each other—and then there’s knowing at a heart level. I hope you’ll bring that heart-level understanding to your relationships. Unfortunately, narcissists simply cannot engage in this way.
Make sure you’re not wasting your emotional energy on someone who cannot engage with you. I hope you can find people who genuinely want to invest in you, just as you would invest in them—people who are real, open, and authentic.
