Number One: They Are Experts in Lying
How can you tell a narcissist is lying? They move their lips. Yes, it is their nature. It’s not just a personality trait; no, it’s who they are. Lying is as essential to them as breathing is to you. It comes very easily but is also essential for their survival. The truth is, their whole existence is a major lie. They live in a bubble of distorted reality in which everything works according to their fantasy. They like to believe they are multi-talented and that their charm is real. They appear super confident, knowing deep down that they are actually insecure.
Why are they masters of lying? Well, they continuously lie to themselves, not just to others. They engage in self-gaslighting, which makes it easier for them to live in their false reality and act as their ideal version of themselves—the person they want to be seen as, whether in relationships or their career. Every move they make is supported by a bunch of lies stacked one upon another. That is the reason why, when things crumble and fall apart, their entire world collapses. This phenomenon is known as a narcissistic collapse. One piece of the puzzle gone, one brick missing from the structure, and the entire edifice falls apart because it is built on nothing but lies.
To keep this structure intact and running for years to make it look real, they must have mastery in telling lies, creating lies, and making their lies appear as truth. That requires a certain level of expertise that you and I can never have.
