Narcissists are fast movers. They can move on from things literally within seconds because they aren’t actually attached to anything. They can give up on you, on your child’s well-being, on their own career, and on years of investment in relationships just like that. They do not need closure. They do not grieve. They just switch lanes.
However, there are things a narcissist cannot let go of because the topics I’m about to discuss keep their core fantasy alive. They will sell their soul to hold on to them, even if it means risking everything. These aren’t random obsessions; they are deeply tied to how the narcissist sees themselves. Without these things, they do not feel real. They do not feel powerful. They do not feel like they exist.
